Payroll - No Super for under 18yr old and less than 30 hours

Refer the ATO web site → https://www.ato.gov.au/business/super-for-employers/work-out-if-you-have-to-pay-super/

If they are under 18, and worked less than 30 hours, then super isn't paid. Otherwise they get it.

This scenario with Minder clients is very rare, so there isn't any automation for it, but it isn't hard to do manually.

To fix it.

1. Remove the Super Percentage so it doesn't calculate.

  • Payroll

  • Maintenance

  • Employee Super

  • Bring up the employee in question.

2. Click on the 'Non-Standard' contribution box, ensuring the rate is zero. This will prevent it calculating in the future.

3. Do a PayRun 2 to remove the Superannuation.

Hours are ZERO.

TAB 4 - Deductions / Adjust / SalSac

Enter the negative amount to correct all the Super, the ‘Freeze’ tick box will automatically come on.

You will receive a Warning, this is OK.

Post & Advance the Pays as normal. You may receive a Warning, the system won’t write a negative amount, this is fine as you would have deleted this record anyway.

4. Remove the existing Entries

Go to TAB2 - Super-Advice

Simply delete the records here, making a note of the values. That prevents them appearing in the EFT file for the Clearing house.

5. Procedure Complete
