Family & Domestic Violence Leave

All employees are entitled to family and domestic violence leave each year. This includes full-time, part-time and casual employees.

The entitlement to paid or unpaid family and domestic violence leave comes from the National Employment Standards (NES). It’s a minimum leave entitlement, like annual leave or sick and carer’s leave.

FDV Leave in Minder Payroll

Family Domestic Violence is a confidential issue and could cause harm to your employee should knowledge of leave taken come to the attention of the abuser.

Hence, and in compliance with legislation, FDV Leave will be treated as Ordinary Time and appear as Ordinary Time on the Payslip and within STP2.

Within the system FDV Leave will be Ordinary Time. The only place that the FDV Hours Used will be displayed is in this Payroll Screen.

You may over-ride the Ordinary Time and use any other type of leave if that is safer for your employee. An adjustment would need to be made to the accruals should that occur, else you are reducing their entitlements to that particular leave, which is contra to the legislation.


Processing FDV Leave

New FDV Leave fields are at the bottom of the Pays screen.

Before adding FDV hours

 

  • The Hours allocated to FDV are immediately added to Ordinary Time (at the top). In this example the 14hours FDV leave has been added to the original 24 hours Ord Time (total of 38hrs) and the Pay has been recalculated automatically.

From this point on, FDV Leave is treated as Ordinary Hours


Payslip

There is no inclusion of FDV Leave on the Payslip.


Hours Used YTD

  • The hours used provides an indication of total FDV Leave taken this financial year. It does not restrict you from offering more leave if required.

  • It is reset to zero at Year End Posting.
